Chris Garcia reviews the debut of "Lights! Camera! Zombies!" in the AUSTIN AMERICAN-STATESMAN, calling it a: "...fun peek at the making of his absurdist feature film, Z: A ZOMBIE MUSICAL" and adding, "McLean's previous feature was THE PERFECT MAN CONTEST."
Our first television interview for Z! Crazy co-hosts Leila Hernandez & Jegar Erickson gave me a full half-hour on the AUSTIN MOVIE SHOW to talk about Z and even show a (G-rated) clip from THE PERFECT MAN CONTEST.

Local columnist and gadfly John Kelso writes a nice piece on Z for the Austin-American Statesman...focusing largely on the heroic performance of our "Zombie Dog", played by my ex-wife's funky pug, Mabel.

19 AUG 06--The Last Night of Shooting on Z: A ZOMBIE MUSICAL! Most of the principals and several wild extras gather to dance naked around a bonfire in Shiner, TX for the very last shots of the picture!
16 SEPT 06--Because Editing had been proceeding throughout the extended Shooting Schedule, post-production on Z: A ZOMBIE MUSICAL is completed less than a month after the end of Principal Photography!

However...
17 SEPT 06--Before we can even celebrate completion of the project, disaster strikes! The very next day, the LaCie 500 GB External Hard Drive that contained the entire picture crashes and dies an ugly death...taking 10 months of work with it. And, no, we had no Back Up.
19 SEPT 06--Producer Dan Eggleston springs for two new External Hard Drives (Seagates, this time around!) and the time-consuming Post-Production process begins all over again from scratch! Ain't nothing gonna stop us from finishing this musical!
28 SEPT 06--There's still hope! We've sent the dead LaCie External Hard Drive out to some folks called DriveSavers in San Francisco...and there's a very good possibility they'll by able to retrieve all of our data! So keep your damn fingers crossed!
1 OCT 06--Kevin Nalty, author of the hugely popular viral video blog, Will Video For Food, gives a shout out to us for our Z promo trailers! (If you wanna learn how to make money creating viral videos, definitely check out his bad-ass blog.)
15 OCT 06--The Wizards of Hard Drives over at DriveSavers.com manage to retrieve the entire picture, which they returned to us on a brand-new Seagate hard drive! After a few days of tweaking, Z is once again complete and ready to screen!
2 NOV 06--Release Your Inner Zombie, my creative blog, goes live and quickly gets some online press! Kevin Nalty over at Will Video For Food goes a-pimping for the Blog, labeling it Liquid Plumber for the Creative Pipes!
15 DEC 06--The first review of Z: A ZOMBIE MUSICAL appears on the popular Horror Fan site, DreadCentral.com!
JAN 2007--The leading ladies of Z: A ZOMBIE MUSICAL (Hanna Hardin, Hallie Martin and Tiffany Janssen) are joined by Z Choreographer/ Lead Singer, Amy Jordan, in the creation of the risque cabaret company, The Jigglewatts.
24 FEB--The Jigglewatts, now joined by Z alumni John McLean as their MC and George Riley as The Mysterious Man debut their new burlesque noir show, A Pocketful of Murder, at the Hideout in Austin, TX. online press!
8 MAR--The satirical short, HOW TO SUCCEED IN FILM FESTIVALS...WITHOUT REALLY TRYING! debuts on YouTube.
9 MAR--Award-winning Film Journalist Nikki Finke pimps our short, HOW TO SUCCEED..., on her popular site, Deadline Hollywood Daily!
7 AUG--Check out the new Zombie Musical MySpace Site in order to hear 4 of our Song/Dance numbers!
