Z is a sexy, silly independent feature--90 minutes of high-energy fun! It's a musical with 14 original songs and lots of provocative nuttiness along the way.

Principal Photography was completed in Fall 2006.

The picture was shot on Hi-Def in and around Austin, TX and features cameos by Mark Zupan, Joe Ely, Sara Hickman, Austin Mayor Will Wynn and a special appearance by Joe "King" Carrasco as the Honorary Mayor of Zomburbia!

It's a movie.
It's got Zombies.
Sexy, singing, dancing Zombies.
What else do you need to know, really?!

One Dark and Stormy Night...

Z is an intense--and intensely nutty--independent feature that shows the Living Undead in a slightly different light than you may be accustomed.

Your average Zombie picture is about a bunch of mindless Humans who suddenly get attacked by slightly more mindless Zombies. The "Norms" are picked off one by one until only a lone character remains, typically a female, and then she's usually done in by the persistent Zombies and...Roll Credits.

Whereas in Z, the heroes ARE Zombies. They're productive, erudite, sexually liberated, even philosophical at times.

The story involves a young woman--a nun travelling with two fellow Caramel-Lite sisters--who gets turned into the Living Undead by a Zombie Dog and then sets off on a journey of discovery that takes her to an enclave of the Living Undead called Zomburbia, and then to parts unknown as she seeks a way out of her newly Zombified condition.

Behind The Scenes...

Cameras finally stopped rolling on Z in September 2006, after a production that stretched out over nights and weekends for nearly a year. Post-production is currently in full swing, with a planned completion date of early 2007.

Z is the brainchild--or brain fart, depending on your perspective!--of Austin-based actor and filmmaker John McLean.

John was educated by Oblate priests at Mary Immaculate Grade School in Dallas and later at St. Anthony's High School Seminary in San Antonio.

After deciding not to become a priest--which occasioned a collective sigh of relief from Catholics everywhere--John graduated with a degree in Literature and Languages from the University of Texas at Austin. He speaks French, Spanish and American Sign Language. Or so he says!

In 2003, John produced, wrote, directed, edited and acted in his first independent feature, THE PERFECT MAN CONTEST--a wacky mockumentary about Love, Sex & Religion.

THE PERFECT MAN CONTEST is available in fine video stores everywhere. Okay, it's available at a couple of video stores in Austin,TX. But they're very fine video stores...honestly!

On With The Show...

Now that Z is completed, we are actively seeking a Distrubtion Company willing to get behind this unique musical and help expose it to as many people as possible!
